Overview

Defence training teams work with large volumes of policy, technical publications, standards and course documentation.

The information needed to answer a question may already exist, but locating it, checking the context and proving its source can consume substantial expert time.

Agilexe introduced an AI-enabled document intelligence capability that allows users to search selected document collections, ask natural-language questions and receive answers linked directly to supporting evidence.

The result is a faster route from source material to defensible insight, with users able to inspect the evidence rather than relying on unsupported AI output.

Challenge

Critical knowledge was distributed across multiple documents, formats and repositories.

Conventional search could find matching words, but often left users opening and interpreting multiple documents before reaching a reliable answer.

For training analysts, designers and subject-matter experts, this created three key problems:

• Valuable time was spent locating and comparing source material.
• Important information could be missed when different terminology was used.
• AI-generated summaries were difficult to trust unless material claims could be traced back to their source.

In a high-assurance environment, speed alone was not enough.

Users needed to understand which documents had informed an answer, where the evidence appeared and whether the source remained appropriate for the task.

Sift turns complex document collections into a connected research environment.

Sift gives authorised users a dedicated environment in which to explore selected organisational documents.

Users can Find words, phrases, topics, documents and passages across their chosen corpus, or Ask a natural-language question and receive an evidence-backed response.

Inline citations connect responses directly to supporting sources, while document and page references allow users to inspect the original material themselves.

The capability also supports document organisation, image discovery and clearer provenance information.

Instead of moving between disconnected searches, documents and notes, users gain a more connected research workflow.

Sift is also designed to act as a knowledge layer across the wider Agilexe platform.

Evidence recovered from source documents can support training analysis, design and resource development while remaining connected to the material from which it was derived.
